Project 1: We will design a validated tool that would evaluate a non-dental health school or residency for the robustness of its oral health curriculum. This evaluative tool would assess everything from leadership buy-in to topics covered, from learner evaluation methods to perceived graduate competence. This project would dovetail with our Project 2 proposal for Year 3 which is evaluating practice change behaviors in clinical settings, while this project is a global assessment of mainly non-clinical factors for a program.
Project 2: In this project, we aim to extend and expand our knowledge of interprofessional education within dental primary care education and practice by focusing on Advanced Education in General Dentistry and General Practice Residency programs. We have identified several areas to assess: chronic medical conditions, behavioral health, social determinants of health, and team-based care.
